    Child Clinical Psychology Externship for Advanced Doctoral Students – $2,000 Stipend

    Summary: Several advanced externship positions are available in Child Clinical Psychology for the 2024-2025 training year at Orchard Mental Health Group (OMHG), formerly known as Quince Orchard Psychotherapy (QOP).

    Qrchard Mental Health Group  is a large private practice in Rockville, MD that provides affordable, accessible, research informed counseling and assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults.

    The externship includes therapy and optional assessment experiences. Externs will carry an outpatient therapy caseload of 6-8 clients per week with the option to complete 1-2 psychological evaluations over the course of the year. Externs with specific interests can tailor their experiences to receive specialized training in autism spectrum conditions or ERP for OCD.

    Opportunities for co-leading groups may be available. Externs will be exposed to many different aspects of working in a successful private practice. One hour of individual supervision and one hour of group supervision will be provided each week. Externs are invited to a weekly OCD consultation group, weekly assessment group supervision, a monthly anti-racism group, and a variety of workshops and continuing education events at the practice. Opportunities for paid psychology associate positions will be available after the first year of externship.

    Qualifications: Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology required. Must have master’s degree by June 2024. Prior practicum experience in therapy and experience with cognitive and personality instruments is required.

    Special Note: Students will need to obtain an NPI number and become a registered psychology associate with the state of Maryland. We will cover the costs associated with the initial registration of being a psychology associate, including the cost for the student to take the jurisprudence test once. We will also assist in helping the student obtain an NPI number and complete paperwork for becoming a psychology associate. Students who obtain their psychology associate by August 2024 will receive a $500 bonus. 

    Time Requirements: 16 hours/week.

    Required Day for Externship: Fridays preferred as one of the two days expected to be on site.
