Dr. Tashya Wilson is licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. She works clinically with all ages, but her primary focus is children and adolescents experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges due to ADHD/executive functioning deficits, depression, anxiety/phobia, OCD, anger, or adjustment difficulties. She works with parents and caregivers to help them strengthen behavioral management skills and navigate common childhood challenges, such as toileting, bedtime routine, sleep hygiene, and feeding/mealtime difficulties.
She has worked in a number of clinical settings, including community mental health, private practice, and major medical institutions. She was the sole primary care psychologist for the child and adolescent clinics on the main campus of Children’s National Medical Center, where she was responsible for providing on-site mental health consultation and treatment for patients receiving pediatric medical care. In her capacity as a staff psychologist in a teaching hospital, she educated, trained and supervised psychology and medical students, residents, and fellows.
Her primary treatment modality emphasizes empirically-based interventions for disorders such as Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disorders, Anxiety, Phobias, and Mood/Depressive Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and behavioral issues. An additional area of expertise includes crisis evaluations, risk assessments, de-escalation and stabilization of crises, and facilitation of inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations when necessary.
Dr. Wilson earned her Master of Education degree in Counseling Psychology from Howard University and her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology. She completed her psychology residency and post-doctoral fellowship at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, where she was chief resident.
