Paula Henriquez, Psy.D. is a Bilingual Clinical Psychologist who is native to the Washington DC metro area. She is licensed in New York and Maryland and specializes in working with children and adolescents and their families with a range of emotional and behavioral conflicts and issues. She has provided individual and family therapy using a variety of evidence-based methods including cognitive behavioral therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Parent Child Interaction Therapy as well as play therapy techniques. Her work includes a variety of settings including a children’s rehabilitation hospital, school setting, neuropsychology practice and an outpatient community center.
Dr. Henriquez received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology with a focus on children and adolescents at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University of Washington, DC. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Astor Services for Children and Families in Bronx, New York. There she worked with children and families in the outpatient setting and elementary-age children in the day treatment program. She received training and specialized supervision on family and play therapy. She also conducted psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to identify strengths and weaknesses as well as address areas of concern through treatment planning.
Having a particular interest in working with children who struggle with various life issues, Dr. Henriquez views her office as a place where children can feel safe and learn to help themselves. She encourages them to identify their own strengths and develop goals targeted to promote positive long-term outcomes and resilience so that they may thrive.
